LOTW: Sweat It

As a chill begins to creep over the city I can't help but constantly want to be in sweats.  This weeks Look of the Week shows just how to do sweats right... without looking bummed out but still super comfortable on those colder nights as we begin to get a glimpse of fall.

I'm obsessed with sweater weather and when that temperature hits just right, they're easily styled up for a night out or styled down for some quick day-time errands or a trip to the gym. These two sweaters from BWGH and La Panoplie [both found on online retail store - East Dane] are just elevated enough to pull off the athletic inspired trend that I've seen so much this fashion week and has always been the description of my personal style for years!

#WheredSaulGo: VW DriveDay One

Recently the good people of Volkswagen invited me to Middleburg, Virginia [just about 30 minutes outside of D.C.] to the beautiful Salamander Resort and Spa to test drive two of the latest from their fleet releasing this fall... the 2015 E-Golf and the 2015 Jetta

Day one was spent wondering around the sprawling grounds of the resort and settling into our super comfortable rooms - fireplace and all - before we headed down to the lobby bar and patio for some evening cocktails, minglings, bites, and bonfire-side s'mores. The super sleek cars were parked on site to help us get comfortable behind the wheel and to give us a glimpse of what we would be waking up for the next day. After a few too many glasses of wine, I made my way back up to my room to light a fire, run a bath, and rest up before our super early morning of test driving through the backroads of rural Virginia. I won't give too much away... make sure you check back later this week for day two of my #VWDrive and more of this scenic trip!

Colors of Fall

Fall is in full swing and I am loving these short[er] days before winter takes over New York City and puts us all into a deep hibernation for what seems like an eternity. Until then though, I am trying to get out and enjoy this city while I can.

I always like to make a short to-do list at the beginning of each week that is made up of some simple but inspiring activities around some of my favorite neighborhoods. Today's activity... wonder around the non-tourist trekking streets of Soho with coffee and coffee inspired-wear. A definite fall staple color! What's inspiring you today?

LOTW: #1BigYear

This week, here in NYC, I had the chance to celebrate with East Dane on their one year anniversary and, in my opinion, some pretty bad ass collaborations. Brands like Patrik Ervell, 3x1, and Miansai have partnered with the mega-online retailer debuting an exclusive capsule collection of pieces like the ones seen here... the perfect inspiration for this weeks'Look of the Week

Everything from denim to outerwear, the exclusive collection has everything I needed to make up this LOTW, and I'm sure, many more to come. Oh, by the way, the collection is available NOW so make sure you check it all out for yourself!

Dad Plaid

It's no secret, my love for heritage and classic style runs deep. Everything from old-school athletic wear to never out of style tweeds, I'm into it all. Lately though I've really been drawn to pattern that has been around for centuries and will be around for many more to come.

Glen plaid [aka Prince of Wales Check] is my favorite and comes to us by way of New Zealand [unofficially] in the 19th century and if you know me personally, you know my infatuation with New Zealand imports does not end with clothing. This classic pattern is used primarily in suiting but lately I've found it in everything from socks to ties to this shirt from J. Crew. It's the perfect fall/winter shirts collection from the retailer which they are calling their soft heather twill shirts. Softer and slightly heavier than your basic button-downs, this collection definitely steps up your shirt game with classic suiting patterns... patterns I like to call Dad Plaids for their mature, dapper appeal.

#WheredSaulGo: VW DriveDay Two

Ah, just looking at these pictures again I'm already wishing I was back in Virginia touring the backroads of beautiful Middleburg. As I mentioned last week, the team at Volkswagen invited me out to test drive some of their latest being released this fall - the 2015 E-Golf and the 2015 Jetta

Day two was an early one, especially after a little too many glasses of wine and smores the night before! After a quick presentation by the team at Volkswagen we made our way to our first cars to drive which were lined in front of the  Salamander Resort and Spa. My first, the E-Golf... sleek and powerful, this electric vehicle definitely woke me up as we zoomed down the winding, tree-lined roads of rural Virginia. Not only great for the environment but fun to drive, I loved being behind the wheel of this car! After what seemed like a short drive, we made it to our first destination of the day - Great Country Farms - where we stopped in for some delicious donuts and some good old fashioned peach pickin!

After a quick lunch, we were off to discover what we would be test driving next... the 2015 Jetta. A classic in the Volkswagen family, this was the model I actually drove during drivers-ed back home in Texas and dreamed of buying as my first car while in high school. With 42 hwy mpg with TDI Clean Diesel, touchscreen navigation, and a Fender Premium Audio System, this was not the vehicle I drove some years ago. I instantly fell in love with the updated car all over again - but now from a much wiser position.

We finished the day off driving through the hills and admiring the scenic route back to the Salamander Resort and Spa where we were welcomed with lunch [one of the best burgers I've had by the way] and some lounging in the sun watching the horses in their nearby stables. This was, without a doubt, a trip I won't forget and wanted to never end!

What do you guys think of these cars... Which one are you driving this fall?! I know my choice!

*This post brought to you by our friends at Volkswagen - big thank you to the team for the amazing experience and for giving us a sneak peek of what's to come!*

LOTW: Iconic Fall Color

I love the iconic colors of certain seasons. You can't help but find yourself drenched in the color of the season and this case, for fall, you may just find yourself intoxicated by its' deep hues. This week's Look of the Week is inspired by my number one choice of color this fall: Bordeaux, Burgundy, Maroon, or whatever else you want to call it. You won't be able to stop after just one... Dress responsibly!

Step Into Fall

I love this type of weather in New York. There's just enough chill to almost convince me to get a hot coffee instead of an iced, just enough chill to throw on an extra layer, and just enough chill to know we are stepping right into fall.

And what better way to take that step than with a new pair of kicks. My shoe staple this fall... these Johnston and Murphy Suede Double-Monks! Fresh off the racks from their new Fall/Winter collection, these bad boys are the perfect pair to get your season started and instantly upgrade your style. Now if only these days would last a little longer!

Basic Essentials

There are some wardrobe staples that just never go out of style. Basics like denim and tees are just the tip of the ice burg when it comes to essentials every guy needs in their clothing arsenal. One more addition... a good pair of khakis!

Either dressed up or dressed down, you'll be wearing a classic pair like these AEO Original Straight Khakis on the daily so invest in multiple colors. I tend to lean towards the darker colors in the fall/winter and lighten up as the sun starts to shine during the spring/summer but really you can't go wrong.

Watch Uprade

I wore this Seiko Astron GPS Solar watch as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars – All words and opinions are my own. #AstronElite
Sometimes, something as small as an accessory can completely upgrade your daily style…  and this Seiko Astron GPS Solar does just that! As soon as I put this timepiece on, I was instantly inspired for a suit kind of day to finish my busy week.

Designed slimmer and smaller, which only makes this timepiece easier to wear, the Seiko Astron will be upgrading my style on the daily. Especially while trekking around NYC, I tend to keep my daily-wear simple and clean so I love how this timepiece fits right into my active lifestyle. No matter if I’m running out to a morning coffee meeting or heading to a dinner with friends, this super lux timepiece always gains the attention it deserves without completely overpowering my style.

Not only am I obsessed with the sleek, masculine design and functionality, but Seiko has also been able to create a watch that receives GPS signals and quickly identifies the time zone and date. For myself, always on the go and loving to travel, this definitely comes in handy. Gone are the days of winding and rewinding my watch to adjust for time! Powered by all types of light, this Seiko Astron watch is completely self-sustaining which means there is no need to ever change the battery either. It just doesn’t get better than that.

If you’re investing in one thing this season, the SeikoAstron is the way to go! Dressed up or dressed down, this beautiful timepiece will upgrade any style and will have you inspired on the daily to take that extra ten minutes while getting prepped for your day. What do you think? Would you wear this watch?

LOTW: How to Fleece

Fleece... there's really nothing more comfortable to layer with this fall! Either with a hooded jacket or a fleece bomber like the ones shown in this weeks Look of the Week, there are so many different ways to wear this fall/winter staple.

I like to keep it pretty simple when dressing in the sheep-like fabric. There's already enough texture going on to not have to try too hard with the other pieces of your look... The focus will always fall on how you pull off the fleece. Mix it up a bit with different shades and silhouettes. The combinations are endless so give it a wear!

New York City at Dusk

Ah, we're almost there folks... it may only be the middle of the week but I can already feel the weekend creeping up on us. After a long weekend spent back home celebrating my sisters wedding, and of course eating tons of tex-mex grub I've been missing lately, I'm really looking forward to a weekend of relaxation.

This weekends plans... suit-down, iced coffee and muffin from our favorite neighborhood bodega, and hopefully some last bit of sunshine before winter really takes over New York City. For now though, I'm going to enjoy walking these streets at dusk sans jacket. Happy hump-day friends!

Eau de Lacoste

With new seasons comes new scents. I'm all about switching up my colognes and really try not to get too use to just one... mainly just because I'm slightly obsessed collecting the beautiful bottles.

My latest obsession, Eau de Lacoste, will be hard to give up - so I probably never will. The crisp, masculine scents of cedar and hints of rosemary make this cologne the perfect fall scent. Now if only smell-o-vision existed!

If you've ever seen my closet [or have just been following along on the blog for a bit], then you'd know just how sneaker obsessed I am. Even for the most dressed up occasions, I always try to find a way to pair up my suits with a good pair of sneakers!

My current obsession is white kicks. Sleek and modern, a clean pair of white sneakers are easily dressed up or dressed down to take you through your week. These Puma Basket sneakers, sold exclusively through JD Sports, are my current favorites and I wear them on the daily! Make sure you check out their Instagram @PumaBasketJD for more pics of these kicks.

P.S. How sick is this bomber jacket from a recent discovery of mine, DDUGOFF!?

I'm taking every chance I get to dress down and enjoy this city while I can. This is that perfect time where the temps begin to drop but the sun is still shining, the leaves are bright red and orange, and I'm still able to stroll around my neighborhood sans jacket.

Easily described as a creature of habit, I have staple pieces that rotate through my casual-wear that I wear on the daily and sometimes buy multiples of. This J. Crew hoodie is just that! Super lightweight and soft, I layer it over or under just about everything. It's the perfect Sunday stroll sweatshirt!

As sad as it is to admit, it's just about time for full on blizzard mode here in NYC and I am not happy about it! What I am happy about though is all the super comfortable layers I'll be pulling on and obsessing with. This week's Look of the Week is just the tip of the frigid iceberg East Dane has to offer to get you prepped!

Invest wisely this winter... a good coat will last for years! This down bomber jacket by Mackage will be my go-to this, and many years to come. With a sherpa-lined collar and down fill, this guy will have you staying warm without looking like you packed on the LBs for winter. Just don't forget about some good winter boots to match like these Hunter Rubber Lace-ups!

Coach Debuts Men's Collection

I think by now, most of you know where all my money goes.... shoes! They are the one thing that I know I won't get rid of unless I really have to. I get hooked to a few pairs and wear them down until they are no longer wearable. Thankfully, last week I had the pleasure of attending a party with Details Magazine for the launch of the first full men's shoe collection by Coach where I was able to snag a pair from the line!

Made of perforated wingtip designed leather and durable rubber soles, these Coach Brandon Boots are the perfect combination of classic design and rugged appeal. Which only means I won't be saying bye to these guys any time soon! Rain or shine, snow or ice - I'll be prepped for any terrain and won't lose any style points in the process. Make sure you head on over to Coach now and check out the full collection for yourself. Just try to only pick one.

Happy Halloween!

And just like that another busy week comes to a close... and it couldn't have come soon enough! As we all let out a celebratory sigh when the clock strikes marking the end of the long work week, we will all be rushing home to dress in our spookiest garb for my favorite holiday of the year - Halloween!

Always a big kid at heart, Halloween is that one time of year I know we are all excused to act and look like complete fools without having to explain why later. And if you're more of a homebody, excused to eat handfuls of candy corn while shrieking at the scary movie marathons on TV. While there will not be evidence of how I'll be enjoying my Halloween here, just know that I will be celebrating with you all until early hours of Saturday morning! So enjoy, be safe, and have a Happy Halloween!
