Last Signs of Snow

Yea, so winter happened again here in NYC today. I'm hoping it was just Mother Nature's way of say good riddens to the chill and hello to the beautiful spring weather we've had brief previews of over the last couple of weeks. As much as we could all complain about the last of the snow storms, I'm just happy it's finally on it's way out! Thankfully, I always wait until after Easter weekend to put away my winter-wear... it was a lesson I learned the hard way.

Dressing for the chill isn't all bad when you're prepared. I'm getting one last use out of some of my favorite fall/winter-wear from Tommy Hilfiger like this topcoat and sweater, which have been in my rotation all season. My favorite part of the season though is my growing collection of Blundstone footwear. These brogue boots are some of my go-tos this year so I knew I had to bring them out during what is hopefully the years last snow. Make sure you check out the entire Blundstone collection... you'll be seeing me sport some of their spring footwear soon!

Rockstar Moment

Diesel Black Gold has reinvented the wheel... well in this case, the jean. Recently launched just a couple months ago, DBG's new Type-2614 jean is some serious denim. With instant rockstar appeal, these jeans are 50% longer than most denim which adds some texture to an otherwise flat skinny jean. The denim has just the right amount of stretch so the extra fabric won't leave you feeling confined. Just bunch the denim up as high as you're comfortable with - I like mine crushed between my knees and ankles - and you instantly get some good dimension. I of course paired the denim with a killer DBG leather jacket and some boots to really get that rockstar moment.

All in a Day's Work

Grooming has always been an obsession of mine. It all started, as it does for most, as a teenager trying my best to prevent acne. Although I couldn't stop the natural progressions of becoming an adult, I still managed to combat the less than desirable skin problems we all must face when going through puberty. Even until this day, I still find myself obsessing over preparing for the next pimple even though they are far and few between.

As I know you guys all vary in age, grooming routines are universal, so I decided to share some of my go-to's in my grooming game. These products are some of my favorites that I use throughout my day and can easily vouch as a necessities in my morning and nightly routine. I know it looks like a lot but really only takes minutes out of your day to use. If you're younger, you'll soon find yourself going from battling acne to battling signs of aging so listen up... it's never to soon to prevent the changes of life!

FOR FACE
Wash:Ernest Supplies Soap-Free Gel Wash • Ace men's only, all-natural grooming brand that'll leave your face squeaky clean without leaving that post wash dryness. Start and finish each day with a wash.
Eyes:Ernest Supplies 360º Protective Eye Serum [launching soon] • Like I said, it's never too soon to fight the signs of aging. I use this morning and night.
Moisturize:Kiehl's Daily Reviving Concentrate• Before laying on moisturizer, start with this serum for that extra boost of moisture and protection from the elements. Use after each wash.
Mask:Kiehl's Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque• Alright guys, if you really want to step up your skincare game, go for a mask. This one from Kiehl's is made from Amazonian clay which will draw out toxins and deep-down dirt that clog your pores. Real men wear masks. Use once or twice a week.
Tool: Clarasonic Alpha Fit Men's Cleansing• For that extra, deep down cleaning us guys need. With an oscillating frequency that produces over 300 movements per second, this tool will leave your skin fresh without worry of residue. I use each night in the shower to get rid of that end of day gunk.

FOR BODY
The Pits:Axe White Label Dry Spray• I live by dry deodorants. Trust me, the gel and solid sticks are over compared to this 48 hour dry protection. Extra points for not leaving those annoying white lines on our tees post-application. Check out the entire Axe line for your scent match.
Scent:Georgio Armani Aqua Di Geo• I change my scent each season but a constant go-to since a teen is this super clean profurmo. You know what to do. Spray and wait to be noticed.
Wash:Julien Farel Energize Hand and Body Wash• Made with honey and green tea, this wash rinses with some serious clean and even has extra benefits of anti-aging so use generously.

FOR HAIR
Head: Dove Men+Care Sculpting Paste• With a lightweight, matte finish, this paste won't leave you feeling stuck. Rub about a dime size in your hands and run through your hair. Easy.

It's Easter weekend - which I just realized yesterday - so what better time to bring out the lighter shades of clothing and the clothing that's on the lighter side of weight. Linen, people. I'm talking about linen! The fabric definitely isn't a new trend for the warmer seasons but brands are finding more creative ways of using the breathable material... For example, this bomber jacket.

The Derek Linen Bomber Jacket by fairly new brand, Slate and Stone, is a piece that I love going into spring. It's no secret I'm a huge advocate for the bomber silhouette so this one was a no brainer. It comes in both navy and this light grey color [I opted for grey since my friends keep prying me away from all things navy and black] which can easily work into any style. It's still a bit chill in NYC so I layered under a Todd Snyder x Champion Sweatshirt for a bit of warmth but still on that lighter spring shade scheme... maybe I was channeling the Easter Bunny but it all seems to work, holiday or not.

While I won't be traveling far for the holiday weekend, I will be waiting patiently for the Easter Bunny to arrive - AKA the waiter bringing mimosas at brunch. However you choose to celebrate, make it a good one and don't eat too many peeps! Trust me, I learned that lesson that hard way. Happy Easter friends!

Adding Warmth to Your Space

There's something so serene about an all white palette when designing your space. Even as I type this at my desk in my bedroom, I'm surrounded by stark white walls, bedding, and marble accents. I've always gravitated towards the clean, minimalist esthetic so it's no surprise my room has evolved into an almost sterile environment. It's only recently that I've noticed it, so I've made it my mission to modify and refine my room into a more lived in and cozy kind of feel.

I'm constantly searching for inspiration. Be it for my daily OOTD, home design, and even lessons in photography, I probably spend a few too many hours on Tumblr falling into a rabbit hole of multiple design feeds. When I manage to pry myself from the site, I chalk it up to research and time well spent... and most of the time, it really is. Like coming across this apartment renovated in two completely different schemes.

As you can see in these toggling before and after photos of the space, investing in minimal cosmetic changes a home can be completely adapted to fit and/or upgrade your style. From an all white, minimal esthetic [by Entrance Mäkleri] to my goal vibes - modern, cozy, and warm [by Emma Fisher of Emma Hos]. Darker paint tones, warmer woods, heavier accent furniture, and spots of accessories go a long way in a space. Just shop through some of my suggestions below to get an idea of how I'll be transforming my space on a more accessible budget... which I'll be showing you all soon.

1. Enitial Lab Kamille Walnut Bookshelf - Lowe's • Modular bookshelves are a great way of adding different sized accessories to your space. Be it books, vases, and different nick-knacks from your travels, display it all proudly in an organized way with a cool shelving unit like this.
2. Brass Factory Modern No. 5 Pendant - Schoolhouse Supply and Electric Co.• Bringing in hues of bras and gold easily warms up a space... not to mention adds some great mood lighting when used in your light fixtures.
3. Sillerup Rug - Ikea• Add some texture to your space with a large area rug. I love the geo design in this super affordable piece that helps tie in the shelving unit.
4. Beaded Abstract Kaleidoscope Pillow Cover - West Elm• Bringing in punches of color doesn't have to be so blunt. Subtle hints in your textiles go a long way so make use sporadically throughout the space.
5. Mini Concrete Beveled Square Planters - Etsy• Without a doubt my favorite home trend as of current. Concrete planters are so cool and add some definite weight to your accessories. Etsy is one of the best sites to get some inspiration. With so many different vendors, they have just about anything your mind can imagine!
6. Snake Plant Windowsill - My City Plants• A snake plant is super easy to maintain and acclimates to just about any environment so bring some life to your space with one of these guys.
7. Triangle Jacquard Throw - West Elm• As I mentioned, when wanting to add some color to your room,  textiles is an easy way to accomplish the warmth.
8. Sonoma Frame - Framebridge• This is one of my favorite new finds. Framebridgewill frame just about any size image. Either upload the digital image to their site or they will send you packaging so you can send them your print and they will bring your prints to life with a frame design of your choice. Simple. Best of all, it's super affordable!
9. Roadhouse Leather Barstools - CB2• These are exact replicas from the apartment redesign but on a more affordable level. Either with barstools or regular dining chairs, these are some serious pieces that make it look like you spent more than you did on your own redesign.
10. Empress Loveseat - Amazon• Cause really, there's nothing more manly than a leather sofa. This guy will easily be the main focus of your room and you really can't beat the heavily discounted price that Amazon is offering it for. You'd be surprised what you can find on Amazon so get searching and try not to get too click happy when purchasing.

Naturally Essential Neutrals

Just about the quickest way to stock your closet with essentials, neutrals are those pieces that you easily invest in knowing you will carry them throughout the seasons and won't only be a temporary fad. Without a doubt, camel is one of those kinds of neutrals. No matter your skin tone, there's something about that brown hue that gives you a solid style upgrade... Not to mention, the illusion of a tan. Be it in your shoes, accessories, and definitely your knit-wear, start stocking up on the color and wear on the daily!

Just be careful on going full on double-hump camel. My suggestion: switch up the textures and tones so it gives a little more distinction between the pieces. I'm mixing suede leather, smooth leather, and cashmere all in the same tone but easily defined because of the varying textures of each piece. Try it with just about any neutrals... spring is the perfect time to get into the monochromatic game.

With large scale installations and endless rooms of modern art, it's easily time well spent out of the city and definitely my favorite thing I've done in a while. There's no need to go into in depth reasoning to convince you, the images speak for themselves. Enjoy!

Damn Daniel isn't the kid this season stocking up on sneaks. As the warmer months finally arrive, I can't be more excited to refresh my sneaker collection with some of springs best kick trends. You don't have to go completely sans socks but the option of being able to just slip on some shoes [like these Rockport Suede Slip-Ons I'm wearing here] and hit the street is pretty damn appealing after months of boots and layers of warm socks. Here are fifteen of the styles that are currently on my wish list... I'm a size 9.5US if anyone's looking to get me an early Christmas gift. 😉

There are some brands that you grow up with knowing will always be a staple in fashion and in your daily style. Vans is without a doubt, is one of those brands. I grew up wearing the kicks and even trying to calculate how many pairs I've bought is impossible... Not that I'm even attempting to try. I mean we all went through that 'skater-boy' phase right?!

In celebration of Van's 50th anniversary, the brand most commonly known for their skate inspired silhouettes has partnered with JD Sports on an exclusive collection offered on the retailers site. The Vans Sk8-Hi was my shoe of choice as a kid so I'm throwing it all the way back to those days. Even the brand is using the original construction that made the silhouette so iconic over a decade ago. Check out the full, exclusive collection over at JD Sports.

Slowly as the temperatures rise again, it's getting easier and easier to get into some lighter tones... and it's about time! We all get in a funk of wearing darker colors subconsciously so it sometimes takes a bit of effort to get out of that groove. Finding ways to add in mixes of color doesn't have to be that hard though. Even just dusting off those lighter washed denims go a long way!

Speaking of denim, this Maison Kitsuné Patched Jacket will definitely be in my rotation all spring. It's super lightweight and the color is perfect for these sunnier days we can all start relying on on the daily. Today I paired the jacket with some monochromatic hues [just got lucky with a perfectly matching wall] and some of my favorite Kenneth Cole sneakers for a busy day of trekking around the city for meetings. Give me a follow over on Snapchat - @trendstyled - if you want to see what else I'm up to today... or if you just want to see me dodging taxis to get the perfect Insta shots. Happy Monday friends!

And just like that, we've made it to spring! With what seemed like a never ending chill, the excitement of a new season could not have come at a better time. The refresh was long overdue so now we can look forward to rotating out our winter-wear closets and trading in those spring staples we've been waiting to show off.

One of my favorite staples for the season is without a doubt a good bomber... as you've probably seen over the past couple of weeks [here and here]. I just can't stop myself from collecting the lighter-wear trend which is easy since so many brands are doing them in cool new ways. This Reversible Bomber from Kenneth Cole is one of the newest additions to my collection. It's a two in one investment with reversible black or forest green color way options... depending on your mood of course. Layered over a knit pullover and accented with some clean spring sneakers from the Kenneth Cole Black Label and I was ready to enjoy this warm[er], sunny day! Now if I just had an iced coffee to complete the days look.

This week I had the chance to attend the Sports Illustrated x JCPenney event honoring the 50 best dressed athletes. A list thats comprised of athletes like Lebron James, Serena Williams, Christiano Ronaldo, and the master of suiting himself, Michael Strahan which were chosen by fashion insiders and sport experts. For the nights event, I partnered with JCPenney to sport the latest from Collection by Michael Strahan which offers suiting, shirting, and all the accessories you'll need to get into a dapper kind of mood... All of which is sold exclusively at JCPenney of course.

I went for some serious dapper party-wear in this Striped Navy suit and layered it over a check shirt and knit tie. I'm not an every day kind of suit guy so with full suits at less than $400, this collection is perfect to browse through and stock up on some necessary upgrades. No matter if you're a classic solid color kind of guy or a little more adventurous with patterns [like I went for here], there's a suit for any style and occasion. By now I'm sure you've seen these super cool silk baseball jackets as a huge trend for the season. Inspired by vintage jackets, they have quickly returned to be stylish by being seen in tons of fashion shows and now trickling down into department stores... but at a more viable price-point of course. I instantly fell in love with this one when browsing through Lord and Taylor's private label which just launched, Laboratory, and knew I had to grab it before everyone else did.

With an embroidered tiger logo on front and back, it's definitely one of those pieces that will grab your friends attention. Since it is so bold, I paired mine down a bit with some denim and a tee to even the grounds a bit. These boots from Blundstone are my current favorites that I've been wearing a lot lately. They may look industrial but they're super light and really comfortable for even my longest days trekking around the city. They're a definite necessity to get into!

As the weather warms up, I can't help but already start thinking of summer escapes. As much as I love the city, I'm still a Texas boy at heart and every once in a while I get that itch to get back to my roots. Just about this time at the start of spring, my friends and I have a tradition of going into the wildand unwinding with a slower pace of life, some fresh air, and of course endless cocktails and s'mores fire-pit-side. It doesn't get much better than that!

This Look of the Week is my kind of garb for these kinds of wilderness escapes... I mean, all of my friends do work in fashion so I gotta keep up even while toughen it. I like to think I'm a pro at mixing highs and lows and this LOTW does not disappoint. Monday Leisures

Monday's could easily be the worst day of the week and for most, it's the most dreaded. The weekend is over and you're looking at five full work-days ahead so it's definitely understandable. Which is exactly why I've done my best at convincing myself it's actually the best day of the week. It's hard to agree but hear me out...

Yea, for most, it's the busiest day of the week and you instantly feel swamped with work the second you get to your desk in the morning, but if you play it right, you would agree with why it's actually the best day. First of all, you aren't the only one swamped... everyone is! So it's the one day you can be slow at accomplishing anything, answering emails, scheduling any meetings because, just like you, everyone is playing catch up from the weekend. Not to mention still half asleep from having one too many drinks at their Game of Thrones watching party the night before... yep, it's finally back! Also, it's the perfect day to go casual to work and mix in your ath-leisure-wear and no one will bat an eye.

I, of course, am sporting some new kicks from the Paul Sperry Collection today... the master of warm weather leisure-wear. There's just something about a new pair of Sperry's that instantly transports me boat-side and in a mental escape in the sun. These guys had a major upgrade this season with some super comfortable features like rubber insole that basically massages your feet as you walk and a mesh upper sole to keep your toes cool, dry, and fresh! Now if I only had a boat...

Not gonna lie, I love a good rainy day. Even after finally making it through the bitter chill of winter, I still manage to find a way to appreciate a good spring-time thunderstorm. It may not be the most convenient if you're out and about but it sure does make for a good Netflix and chill kinda mood. 😉

As much as I'd love to have a rainy day in bed, I spent the morning re-exploring the smaller streets of SoHo while killing some time between meetings. One of my favorite spots in this city is Crosby Street... It's usually pretty quiet but between the cobble stone pavement, the pre-war buildings, and the perfect lighting that creeps down the long, alley-like passageway, I always find myself taking a detour just to stroll down it. The hourly downpours just made the street shine that much brighter today.

We're still between seasons here in NYC so I'm still hanging on to some outerwear before completely putting all the fall and winter-wear into storage. This Coach Leather Baseball Jacket [similar here] is one of my favorite layers for these crisp spring days. It has just enough weight to get me through the gusts and the rains... Not to mention, fits light a glove! I'm not sure if it's the chill or just my mood but I'm still not ready to give up these darker indigo jeans from DSTLD either. I've been wearing them a lot lately so bare with me while I transition out of these jeans and out of winter. Until these storms pass though, I'll be keeping on my darker, monochromatic hues as usual.
