This Look of the Week is inspired by and created for all those great Dad's out there! It's not every day that you show appreciation for that Father figure in your life so this year, step it up a bit and really show them just how much you appreciate them. No matter if it's your biological or Step-Father, your single-Mother who deserves a Father's Day celebration since she played both roles, or even just the mentor in your life, shopping for that special person in your life shouldn't be too hard. It's funny how much you get wrapped up in your own neighborhood when living in New York City. It gets to the point where if the event, party, or dinner you're invited to isn't walking distance from your building, you find every excuse to skip it and stay around your local hangouts. I've been living in the Upper West Side for about two and a half years now - jeesh the time flies in the this city! - and I have loved every second of it. Coming from the chaos that is Soho, I never imagined falling in love with such a quiet pocket of Manhattan that is populated by baby strollers, multi-million dollar brownstones, and little, old ladies pulling grocery filled carts... Honestly though, I have loved living on the calmer side of this city... even if it has aged me by at least ten years!

And just when you start to get comfortable you know it's time for some change! In less than two weeks I'll be packing my small apartment and moving to a more palatial space in a new neighborhood of the city... I say palatial but just remember this is New York City so really I just mean there's actual walls within the apartment and a separate living area besides the bedroom. So naturally, I'm super excited to be starting with a new slate and getting to redesign my space... If I wasn't taking silly photos of myself in the streets of NYC, then I would definitely be doing something in design or architecture. So now comes the fun part, shopping for new pieces and researching new design inspiration! I'm going to attempt to keep business as usual on here but if a couple days go by without a post then know, I'm either sweating my way through my move or attempting to give my new space an overhaul. With the first day of summer finally behind us, we are in full swing of long weekends, trips abroad, iced coffee goodness, and a much more relaxed sense of style. It can definitely be hard to not look like a sweltering mess after just a few minutes in the beaming sun so I like to dress light and keep it casual for most of my summer days. There are a few staples every guy needs in their summer arsenal and chinos are definitely up on the top of my list!

Easily dressed up or dressed down no matter how high the temps get, chinos are my summer uniform when running around the city for a busy day of meetings and dinner with friends all while wearing the lightweight bottoms. Chinos come in just about every color these days, but I like to keep the hue light during the warmer months... think earth tones and beach colors when choosing a pair for yourself. These from Topman have a bit of a stretch in them for even more comfort which is perfect for those urban dwellers trekking their cities. It's not every day that I feel like I've actually accomplished a whole lot... breaks turn into long naps, coffee runs turn into lunch breaks, and a day of meetings turns into a day of strolling through the park. As the weekend begins to near, I can confidently say that I've actually accomplished something ahead of schedule! I didn't really have a choice in deciding on being productive or not this week, as I am moving this weekend and leaving for the tropical island of Oahu next week for nine days!

If you've been following my #WheredSaulGo Travel Series then you've seen some of my latest adventures from New Zealand to Thailand to Upstate New York, and everywhere in between, but I am especially excited for this trip back to Hawaii for more personal reasons. Want to know why? Then make sure you're following along on Insta - @trendstyled - to see all the day-to-day adventures as I explore the island of Oahu with all of my closest friends and family.

With so much pride and excitement around the U.S. this weekend, there's no better time to post some of my images from the latest #WheredSaulGo Travel Series where I traveled to our nations capital, D.C.! Only about a four hour bus or train ride away from New York City, D.C. has always been on my long list of places to visit in the States, but for some reason I just haven't found my way there. Thankfully, a few friends from back home in Texas put together a guys' trip to the land of so many historic monuments and museums.

It was a short trip, but we managed to hit up just about every famous monument that so many tourists come to this city to see. From the White House to the George Washington Monument and everywhere in between and surrounding, it was a non-stop trek around the beautiful city of D.C.! We definitely underestimated the summer sun, but thanks to our friends at the Kimpton Palomar Dupont Circle and their trusty [and complimentary] bike rentals we managed to zip right through them all. At this point, if you're following along on Instagram - @trendstyled, I'm sure you're just about fed up with all of the beachside, cocktail, and sunset images that have overtaken my uploads... so for that, I'm sorry. To make up for it, this week's Look of the Week might just help get you feeling like you're right here with me... ok, maybe not, but this is some pretty damn good gear from East Dane that I invested in while preparing for this trip!

For me, packing is a science and as much as I always like to pretend I'm not going to take my entire closet, I always just give in and throw everything in. There are some key items I always like to take though. For my more tropical adventures, swimsuits are obviously key! I like to invest in swims that I know I'll wear on and off the beach... I go for cool patterns and a more tailored fit that won't leave me looking like there's sand in my shorts. I'm back from the tropical islands of Hawaii and already back to the grind. After being gone for over a week, I forgot just how muggy it was in NYC. As sweltering as it might be, I'm doing it all with a smile, a fresh tan, and some killer summer kicks! As much walking as we New Yorkers do, comfort is just as key as style. For me, summer is all about appropriate lightweight colors and fabrics. I go for more linens for my suiting fabrics and when I can get away with it, my shoes are all about cool canvas. Beach Bummin

Sometimes, I just don't feel like putting pants on... today is one of those days. Thanks to my friends at Onia, lounging just became all that more stylish no matter if you're indoors, out of sight or stoop-side, enjoying the sunny day. Now, there really is no excuse to look like a bum while you bum around.

Onia, mostly known to me for their super-cool swimwear, has just rocked my socks with these elevated [Ike Terry] lounge shorts that I just can't seem to pry myself from. Constructed with a stretch, cotton terry fabric they'll have you feeling comfortable and breezy while you lounge or even head out to the beach. Monochromatic Man

It's long overdue but today's the day... the beginning of New York's first ever Men's Fashion Week. It's crazy to think that we haven't had this before but better late than never. To kick off the week's festivities, I've gone for a laid back, monochromatic look as an attempt to stay cool in today's rising temps!

There really is no wrong season to attempt to pull off the monochromatic trend that I've already seen so much of during this mornings presentations. It's just about the easiest look to put together. I always throw in some accents, like today's cognac colored shoes from Alfred Sargent for J. Crew and a simple gold Atlantean Wrap from Alex and Ani, just to help break it up a bit. All Neutral

When I'm not rocking a monochromatic look this season, I'm most likely going neutral. I try as hard as I can to gravitate towards the natural tones during the warmer months... living in NYC, your wardrobe can easily turn to the dark side. It's all about whites, tans, and dusty colors to stay cool and be cool this summer.

For day two of New York Fashion Week: Men's, I went all neutral in an attempt to not look like a sweaty mess by midday... that attempt failed due to the humidity attack after a lunch-time shower, but I managed to pull off a great OOTD, sweat and all. These J. Crew Wheat Selvedge Jeans are some of my favorite summer-time denim and I manage to work them into my weekly looks, well, on the weekly!

Definitely a more relaxed mood this fashion week... I think everyone understands we're all just try to stay cool temperature-wise... so I rocked a great pair of comfortable, white sneakers from Hydrogen-1 and a long-sleeve, lightweight Bonobos shirt with sleeves rolled all the way up. Doesn't get more relaxed than that. You don't have to suit up every day to make an impression, especially when you're trekking around the city during one of the warmest days of the year! Semi-Sheer

Summer shirting never felt so good. I'm managing to stay cool in this semi-sheer shirt from Marc by Marc Jacobs today as I run around the city. Summers in NYC can be brutal. Not only is is sweltering, but you have no choice but to take to the concrete jungle to get things done. I love not having to drive but weeks like this make me wish I was riding around the city in car with the AC on blast!

At first, I told myself that these extreme temperatures us New Yorkers experience throughout the year make us appreciate the seasons but really, I'm just talking myself off the 'I'm moving out of this damn city!' ledge. As much as I would like to walk the streets in shorts and a tank, there's days like today where I have to actually interact with people at meetings and events so this Summer Foulard Shirt could not have been delivered sooner. With a slightly sheer fabric, it lets in the breeze without completely exposing a nip-slip. P.S., honorable mention goes to these sick penny-loafers from a brand I just discovered, Paul Evans. The perfect dapper slip-ons for summer and beyond!

Summer Suiting

Sometimes you just have to keep it short and when it comes to summer suiting, it's all about trying to stay sweat-free. I take any chance I can to stay comfortable and during these hotter days of the year, shorts are vital. You don't have to go so casual in shorts though. With so many brands doing so many great things in men's footwear, when it comes to upping your shoe game, the options are endless. It's all about occasion when choosing a proper shoe. For those warmer, relaxed Monday's like today, it's all about sneakers - sans socks.... well sans ankle-socks. Even if you aren't a suit type of guy, you have to figure out a way to get into a summer linen suit. There's something casual about the lighter fabric of the season so don't worry too much about feeling too stuffy or over dressed. If anything, it will most likely inspire you to step up your style-game and invest in some good suiting for the cooler days of fall... yep, fall is coming!

Cool Color Combos

I can always tell when we are on the cusp of the end of summer as my wardrobe starts to turn to the darker hues. As much as I love the summer months, and everything that comes with it, after weeks of sweating in the streets of NYC it's about time for some cooler days. The closet is screaming to be rotated and refreshed with a new fall wardrobe and I can't be more excited to wear some of the latest gear I've discovered while browsing my favorite online shops!

For now though, I'm trying to find the balance of summer fabrics with fall colors. One of my go-to color combos as of late has been a mix of grey, black, and blues... the perfect season transitioning combination. There's just something so crisp about a navy and black combo that instantly updates a look into a more modern and polished OOTD. And to think, one of my earliest lessons in style was being schooled about black and blue not complimenting each other. Just goes to show, style is all about how it makes you feel... not about what others think they should feel. Follow your gut!
