Tread Styled

And just like that, the sun is here to stay... and what better time to hide those snow-boots and get into a new shoe game! I'm always on the prowl for a good pair of kicks and really, there's no one that has been in the game longer than Kenneth Cole. Having met the man himself and heard him discuss how the brand has come to where it is today - it started in a truck over 30 years ago btw - I have, and always been, a fan of the always evolving brand.

I'm all about comfort when it comes to shoes, especially when trekking the streets of New York City at the beginning of a busy week. These Kenneth Cole Tread-Sole Oxfords combine comfort and trend with a cushioned insole and contrast trim tread sole. I love the black-white contrast on the sole which instantly upgrade your style and have you on the black-white trend that's been so huge this spring. I'll be rocking these all day while I run between meetings and attempting to get some work done on such a beautiful day... but lets be honest, you'll likely just catch me on a stoop with an iced coffee in hand.

LOTW: Day in the Park

With warm days in full force, there's no better time to get your 'Day in the Park' looks together! My park of choice is Central Park of course, but no matter what grassy spot you lay your bum, just make sure you aren't mistaken for a bum. This week's Look of the Week will get you ready for any sunny day spent with friends outdoors.

Short-sleeve popovers are making their return once again in menswear but this year, go for a fun, bold pattern to step it up a notch. Tropical patterns aren't just for Dad's... this Hibiscus Pattern Popover Shirt form Gitman Vintage is the perfect start to getting into the warm weather popover trend. Jean shorts are always on trend during the spring/summer months so either invest in some or just cut up an old pair of denim. Just go for a lighter wash, and don't do the short-short fringe look... no guy should be sporting fringe no matter how warm it is outside. Now grab your towel, your fedora, some tunes, and get outside!

Energizing Scent

Sometimes something as simple as a new scent will instantly upgrade your style. Obviously a huge fan of the Lacoste cologne collections, I easily find myself anticipating the release of another scent hoping to get a boost of a new season. Thankfully, Lacoste sent over their latest in the collection, Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 Jaune, and it couldn't have paired better than with these sunny days we've all been waiting for. Designed with your health in mind, each note of citrus, grapefruit, and cypress [just to name a few] is proven to enhance an overall healthy lifestyle. One spray of this little bottle and the smell instantly energizes and inspires me to get active... Now, If only smell-o-vision were a thing.

Transitioned Attire

When the weekend is said and done, it's hard to get back to the work grind and get out of our relaxed weekend-wear... especially now that it's warm. As much as I try to start the week off on full production mode, today is just too beautiful to pass up! The transition combination of weekend to weekday and winter to spring really make it hard to get anything substantial done on Mondays and today, I have completely given in to treat myself to some RandR.

With rest and relaxation comes a different type of garb. I still love a good tapered jean at the ankle but for a more relaxed fit in the hips, I just size up on the waist... these Nudie Jeans Co. I found on East Dane are a cool, stonewashed color with the perfect fit. The combination of a more relaxed fit in the hips and the washed color gives a cool, beachy vibe that is perfect to transition into days like today. Now, I'm off to grab an iced coffee, a good sandwich, and to hit the park for a few midday sun-rays! Happy Monday friends.

LOTW: Blushed Hues

Bring on the lighter shades! All winter I've been getting deep into my black, brown, and grey rut so I can't be more excited to put all those darker shades to rest and get into the much needed lighter hues of clothing and accessories. This Look of the Week is a must-wear for those sunnier days we all love and dream about enjoying all year long.

Pink is no longer the color for the girls of summer... fellas, you should be sporting the blushed hue for a cooler, confident appeal. A polo is pretty damn classic for the warmer months and Lacoste is the epitome of go-to polos. You just can't go wrong with the preppier look - tennis player or not! Now all you need is a good tote to pack some trunks, sandals, a good book, and some shades of course. This one pictured here is from Apolis, a brand I discovered through East Dane, and is actually a wine tote... so it'll fit your favorite chilled bottle/bottles for your days in the park.

#WheredSaulGo: Volkswagen Road Trip

The #WheredSaulGo Travel Series continues... Last week, Volkswagen handed over the keys to this beauty - a 2015 Golf SportWagen SEL - and let me have free range to test out the features and capabilities it has to offer. At first, we thought we would do a typical New York, warm weather trip to Long Island for the beaches and wineries, but then we thought what better way to test out the turbo power, navigation, and sound system features than a longer road-trip through roads less traveled. So I, along with six friends [not all in the same car of course], played hooky from work and hit the road and documented the entire trip...

Next stop: The rolling hills and wilderness of the Catskill Region of Upstate New York where we hiked, climbed waterfalls, and had a weekend full of laughs. This video series will be an ongoing project so bare with us and enjoy the first of many travel videos to come! Big thank you to Volkswagen for letting us test drive the 2015 Golf Sportwagen... as you can tell, this is not your typical wagen!

Caffeinate Your Shave

Just slightly caffeine addicted, I fell quickly for this new shaving aid just by reading the text! As women are obviously ahead of men in the grooming department, it's about time we step up our game and it all starts with a great shave. Women have been using caffeinated products for a while now... it's in everything from their anti-aging creams to the eye creams to give that extra boost of energy to their skin. Now, thanks to Pacific Shaving Co., we men can join in on the trend! The benefits of a caffeinated shave: anti-oxidants which helps make the skin look and feel healthy, helps reduce redness, and helps to soothe skin post-shave. With a little extra help from spearmint and aloe, this made in the USA product will give your skin a boost of energy before you start itching for your morning coffee fix! Don't believe me just yet?! Well thankfully this Caffeinated Shaving Cream and Aftershave Set is super affordable so you can try for yourself. You can thank me later. Happy grooming fellas!

Formal-Wear

Tis the season... to tuxedo up! Be it your prom or a warm weather wedding, it's time to brush off your tuxedo and get into the dapper groove. I've been getting lots of prom questions as of late and as pricey as a suit can be, it can be a lot more affordable than you think.

I've done all the research for you in today's OOTD, so just follow my lead. My go-to for that tuxedo look that you aren't going to be wearing too often is ASOS. You'll need some time to order online since the store is an online shop only, but it is definitely worth the planning and waiting for that perfectly fitting tuxedo. I only went with the Tuxedo Jacket from ASOS for this look - it's a slimmer, tailored fit so you won't have to be getting any work done to it once you receive it. For the pants, I knew I wouldn't have time to get tailoring work done, so I headed to Express for their Innovator Pants - as you can see they are on the slimmer side too so go perfect with the tailored jacket. Voila! It's as simple as that... All for less than $250 but even better, you have your very own tuxedo that you don't have to worry about returning any time soon!

Wedge Sole Brogues

There are some things that completely inspire me to upgrade my style and put a little more effort in the day's look... Hydrogen-1 Shoes is definitely one of those things. Obviously shoe obsessed - maybe I'll Instagram my closets to show you if I manage to get it organized one day - I am always looking to get into a new pair that doesn't fit the mold of every other pair of kicks I already own.

It really is hard to tell the difference between shoe brands these days so when I was first introduced to Hydrogen-1 I was excited to see the fresh take on my already go-to brogue and sneaker style. Now my third time to partner with the brand, you can see why I keep going back to a brand that is upping the ante in the shoe game. 100% Italian hand-made, these are not your typical mass produced shoes. The attention to detail can be seen in both the design and the manufacturing that goes into making every pair of shoe.

This week, I'm starting the week on the right foot - or feet - with some of the latest brogues from the Hydrogen-1 Spring/Summer Collection. These Tan Textured Leather Brogues with Wedge Sole are not only beautiful and unique but are super comfortable to wear. Almost as if walking on air, these can be worn all day without a problem... no matter if you're wearing them for a day at the office or for a day of errands, the lightweight sole will keep you comfortable and will instantly update your style. I told ya they weren't your typical shoes! If you're wanting to get into a pair yourself, then act fast, they are selling out as quantity is limited!

Collége Kitsuné

I always find myself wondering around my neighborhood noticing the constant change that comes with living in New York City. No matter your neighborhood, there's a constant flow of new... people, restaurants, bars, and even sounds. Summer is definitely the season you see the most change due to new graduates escaping college and heading to the big city to find a new life, experience, and excitement that so many people move to New York for. It's crazy to think that I was one of those people not too long ago...

Ok, maybe it was a long time ago since college but that's not going to stop me from wearing this collegiate tee from Maison Kitsuné! Not one to wear a lot of graphic tees, I couldn't resist with this one from one of my favorite brands. I went full on European with this OOTD with some of my other favorite brands from across the pond including Rivieras Slip-Ons which are also from France, a J. Crew blazer which is constructed with fabric from a mill in Italy, and a new denim discovery DSTLD Jeans whose fabric also comes from Italy.

Believe it or not, these Cigarette Jeans [like all DSTLD Jeans] are less that $100! Sourced from high-end mills and manufactured in Los Angeles, you won't pay the middle-man upcharge that most brands charge... Instead, you get straight from the source prices for super quality denim. Check out their entire collection and try some for yourself!

Spring Monochromatics

It's been pretty chilly and gloomy over here in New York City the last few days, but that's still not stopping me from being all smiles! There's something about a cloudy day that gets me super chill and not stressed about a thing. No matter how many project deadlines I have, I seem to always take these days to binge watch my favorite television shows and just relax couch-side.

I'm always up for monochromatic looks and today's mood is spot on for the cooler tones. Unintentionally mimicking the cloudy day, I stuck to the grays and blues to get dressed today but is completely on trend for spring. To pull off your own spring monochromatic looks you don't have to go with the exact same colors... just go with any lighter or washed out hues and try mixing up the shades of the colors you choose so you don't look completely one noted. It's as easy as that! Now excuse me while I get back inside... I have a very cozy couch calling my name!

Summer Whites

Speaking of 'Spring Monochromatics'... In honor of the Memorial Day weekend, I'm dressing in my all-whites attire. With summer officially kicking off this weekend, I can't be more excited to finally get my shorts out of storage and get my butt to the nearest beach! While so many New Yorkers take this holiday as a chance to escape the city, I love to stay put for a bit of a relaxing stay-cation and enjoy an almost deserted city.

I really can't think of a season that white sneakers aren't a thing, so my suggestion: Invest in a great pair that you'll take seriously about keeping clean so they'll last for many seasons to come! These low-cut, calf-leather sneakers from Hydrogen-1 are just that for me... 100% Italian made with super-soft materials and a padded tongue for even more comfort, these are not only classic but are also some ultra lux kicks that you'll take pride in keeping clean and showing off! And guess what... In honor of Memorial Day weekend, Hydrogen-1 is having a sale you can not miss! Just use code - MEMORIALDAY - at checkout for 25% off your purchase.

LOTW: Summer Concert Series

With the warm weather here to stay, now's the time to get prepped for those summer music festival lineups! It's a great chance to push the boundaries a bit and not take your own personal style so serious. Festivals are all about fun patterns, ripped denim, and some of your favorite outdoor activities to pass the time while under the sun. This Look of the Week should get you started with some of my favorite go-tos while out on the lawn jammin out to some of my favorite brands!

The inspiration for this LOTW all started with the amazing Gitman Vintage Mixed Tropical-Print Shirt pictured above... and really, I'll be forming my entire summer wardrobe around it! It's a lightweight fabric that will keep you looking and feeling cool while enjoying the sun with friends. The rest of these pieces are a given for any summer concert festivals you'll be traveling to this summer and just a few of my favorite's that I'm always traveling with. Notable mentions goes to the Illesteva Shades that are a must for any upcoming days in the sun!

Epic Adventures

For New Yorkers, like so many people around the world, summer is all about taking weekend adventures... and if you know me, I take every chance I can get to escape the bustling city and hit the road on another #WheredSaulGo travel adventure! The long Memorial Day weekend might be over, but I'm already on track to plan my next trip out of NYC and onto some nearby beach.

While deciding on where to go might not be too hard to do, the more difficult part is deciding on what to pack. As much as I'd like to pretend like it's easy for me to just throw some pieces in a bag and go, it never is that simple. If I plan accordingly, I can manage to pack everything I need in one small bag but it takes some compromising. When it comes to my grooming needs though, it's a no brainer... my 4-in-1 Schick Hydro® 5 Groomer tool is all I need. No matter if you're going for a close shave, a beard trim, or even trimming up those hard to reach places [ahum!]... if you travel, this is a grooming essential!

If you've been following my #WheredSaulGo Travel Series, you saw my trip to the other side of the world in New Zealand back in January. While I've already begun to plan my trip back in September, I can only hope it will be as fun of an adventure as YouTube star, Devin Graham's [AKA Devin Super Tramp] epic trip with Schick Hydro®. Devin and his crew traveled to one of the world's biggest all natural rockslides located in New Zealand and documented the entire day... ramps, boogey boards, rafts, and one epic adventure! I must get to this waterslide this September! Make sure you check out the video below... if anything it will inspire you to create your own epic adventure!

Summer Fridays

$

Ah the feeling of a 'Summer Friday'! It's the time of year where everyone in New York City gives a unanimous sigh of relief as we all get to leave work early and hit up our favorite happy hour or hit the road/train-tracks en route to the closest beach destinations.... and of course gives us permission to head to the short office day in a little bit more of a casual gettup!

Nothing says summer more than torn white denim and a chambray shirt... it really should be a nation-wide uniform no matter your occupation. As much as I like to clean out my closet at the start of every season, the one thing I can't seem to get rid of is my denim. For summer, I always take some of my less expensive denim and get experimental with jorts [*jean-shorts*] and some destroyed accents. These acid-washed jeans from American Eagle Outfitters have now been repurposed into some on-trend, distressed denim that I'll be wearing all summer long and feel like a whole new pair of jeans. Just another reason not to get rid of them!

Just follow these few, easy steps to create some distressed denim for yourself:

Step One: Put jeans on so you can mark with a pencil where you'd like to see some distressing - This part is key that you actually put the jeans on... placement of rips is important!
Step Two: Using a pair of good scissors [carefully!], scratch over the pencil marked lines creating horizontal lines. Scratch over a few times so the threading starts to tear.
Step Three: With a new piece of sand-paper, go over the scratched lines to give it a more distressed look. As you sand you'll notice it will get more and more distressed. It's up to you when to stop.
Step Four: Wash in cold water and hang dry. This will break up and clean the threading so it looks nice and distressed. No need for soaps or a full cycle wash... a good rinse and spin will do!

Just like that you're done! Now get to your closet and find some denim you already planned on getting rid of and give it a go. Result vary. Please do not hate me if you don't like how they turned out lol... it takes some practice. Happy Friday friends!!

Proper Nauticals

We're starting the week off with a rainy, gloomy day here in New York City, so I won't be making it too far away from the stoop coverage around my neighborhood. I am, however, making the best of the wet weather with a proper nautical look that is always on trend during these rainy, spring months. It's such an easy look to put together with pieces you should already own in your spring wardrobe. It's all about blue stripes and lighter denim when trying to pull off the nautical trend... if you're really brave, white denim will definitely kick it up a notch!

Every guy should own some white denim. It might take a little more effort to keep them clean but it's definitely worth it! Don't worry about the whole 'no white after labor day' rule, no one follows that dumb rule anymore... you'll be wearing your lighter denim all year round once you break your white-jeans virginity. These J. Crew Japanese Selvedge Jeans are slightly heavier that are perfect for these cooler days. I've had them for about a year and have broken in perfectly no matter how they're styled. If you're going for your own nautical look, keep it simple with horizontal stripes and cooler, blue tones... just throw on a great fitting blazer if you don't want to go too casual.

Summer Excursions

The sun is finally back on blast in New York City, so I've put away the umbrella and raincoat and am feeling alive once again. As you can imagine, when the rain and chill hits the Northeast, we all go into full hibernation mode and it is close to impossible to pry us from the shelter of our apartments... we all complain about the shoebox of a space that we call apartments until the moment we fill rain or snow. Those days are luckily behind us for a few months and I can not be more happy!

Some of my favorite things to do always consist of warm weather... at the very least some sunshine. This summer I've made up a list of things I have to do in hopes of feeling like I've accomplished something besides laying out in Central Park. This growing list consists of trips out to my favorite parts of Long Island, hitting up Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream locations around the city, and of course enjoying some of the best rooftop bars out there! All vital excursions when visiting New York during these few summer months we've all been anticipating.

There are so many great brands out there that delivery some quality gear that'll have you looking good while feeling relaxed! The temperatures are quickly rising so what better time than now to get your iced coffee fix. I'm not a stranger to the caffeinated goodness and basically any day, warm or cold, you'll find me walking the streets of NYC with an extra large iced coffee in hand. Thankfully my friends at Folgers® sent over another batch of their Folgers® Iced Café to get me through a few more months!

I recently introduced you all to the handy Folgers® Iced Café creation - a quick couple shots of your very own concentrated coffee flavoring and caffeine mix. Simply combine cold milk and a couple  of shots, flavored to taste, of your Folgers® Iced Café and you'll be looking just as chipper as I do while on the run. I carry mine with me for that spur of the moment pick me up fix while en route to a busy day of meetings and errands. How convenient is that?!
