Beach Life

I'm going to keep this one short and sweet... as you can probably guess, I'm in full on tanning and relaxing mode as we spend our first days in New Zealand on the private beaches of Totaranui.

When traveling to any beach location, packing should be minimal and light. As hard as it is for me to pack light, I luckily have the luxury of traveling in a Fiat Camper which has plenty of space for some hefty luggage... not to mention a full kitchen, separate bedroom with toilet and shower, and a dining/living room combo! I won't be spending much time in the camper, but I will be spending almost every day in some gear that Orlebar Brown sent over including these customized trunks I helped design in all black details including black buckles and initial monogramming. The rest of my holiday gear will include plenty of linen shirts, shades, tanks, and trunks. There's really not a whole lot else you need when planning any beach vacation!

I'm off for now filling my days with beach-side tanning, boat-side fishing, road-side biking and hiking, and fire-side cocktailing! Make sure you're following on Instagram - @TrendStyled - for some play-by-play beach shots as I continue with my #WheredSaulGo travel series!

#WheredSaulGo: New Zealand - Te Waikoropupu Springs

Don't ask me what that sign says above... I have no idea! We somehow found the energy to pry ourselves away from the beach in Totaranui to take a quick day-trip over the hill in Golden Bay to Te Waikoropupū Springs [Pupū Springs for short] - the largest freshwater springs in New Zealand and the largest cold water springs in the Southern Hemisphere.

Protected from all forms of human contact, Pupū Springs are some of the most beautiful waters I have ever seen - contrary to the name. You can see all kinds of wildlife and natural plant filters straight through to the very bottom of the springs. A quick twenty minute walk takes you along a path guiding you through from the beginning of the fresh water pond through the rapids and different streams that make up the waters. It was definitely worth the trek away from the beach and a must see when visiting the South Island of New Zealand!

Make sure you follow along on Instagram - @TrendStyled or with the hashtag #WheredSaulGo - for some day-by-day travel updates as we venture the South Island of New Zealand this week!

Inspired by my New Zealand travels, this Look of the Week mimics the hues and colors of the land and sea I’ve seen over the past couple of weeks and exactly what I've been wearing during my treks. From the crystal clear ocean waters to the deep greens of the forests, this trip has been one for the books! I can not be more happy to be experiencing such beautiful, mostly untouched land that makes up the South Island of New Zealand. I hope you all are enjoying some of the images so far and feeling some of the inspiration travel style vibes I’m sending your way!

And we're off... We're moving away from the beach and heading South en route to our next location as our road-trip around the South Island of New Zealand conitnues. As sad as I was to leave the beach, five days of beach-side lounging and activities were enough to hold me over for a bit.

We're currently on our way towards the West Coast of the Southern Island of New Zealand but first, we have to trek through the rolling hills and mountains that separate the East and West Coast of the island. Made up of lush landscapes, winding roads, walking/biking paths through the canyons, and some pretty amazing waterfalls big and small, this drive is like one I've never seen! I made sure we stopped at every chance we could to take in the views - and of course to take some roadside OOTD photos!

The good people over at Kenwerks managed to catch me just before I left for this trip and sent over some great pieces from some of the brands they represent - including this Tailored Skipjack Polo Shirt from Southern Tide. It's the perfect fitting polo and pretty damn comfortable for the long road-trip ahead as we venture through New Zealand. I had to bring a little classic Southern style to the other side of the world. You can take the boy outta Texas but you can't take the Texas style outta the boy!

#WheredSaulGo: New Zealand - West Coast Driving

Continuing on my #WheredSaulGo travel series, we are hitting the road once again... this time to travel down the West Coast of the South Island of New Zealand! At this point, we are getting pretty spoiled by the views as we trek the hills and winding roads that make up the West Coast. It's almost as if we are submersed deep into the Amazon... except for the random herds of sheep that cross our path every few hours.

Our first stop along the way was the Pancake Rocks of Punakaiki. This beast of a landmark, made up of the rocky coastline that is the West Coast, has slowly been molded by the seas pounding waves into what now looks like stacked pancakes. It's pretty amazing to see but talking to others passing by who were New Zealand locals [as well as my fiancé], they all remembered visiting the rocks as kids some twenty years ago and being able to climb through to the top of the rocks without much danger. Now, most of the footpaths and steps up the rocks have been washed away by way of sea water and look completely different from what they remembered. You're still able to get a great view of the rocks and the blowholes but if you're visiting New Zealand in the near future, put this stop on your itinerary before it's completely gone! Trust me, rocks can be pretty cool.

Post rock watching, we got back into our mega ride - our Fiat Camper - and got back on track of our roadtrip. Next stop... Queenstown, New Zealand! Make sure you're following along on Instagram - @TrendStyled - to see more of the beauty that is New Zealand... and some pretty ridiculous selfies of course!

Kiwi Styles

As you can probably tell at this point if you're following along on Instagram [@TrendStyled], I am fully immersed in all things Kiwi! As much as I love NYC for everything it has to offer, there's nothing like escaping the chaos and appreciating the quieter sides of the globe and experiencing what different countries have to offer.

During my #WheredSaulGo travel series through New Zealand, you've been experiencing some of the beautiful sides this country has to offer... and really, there haven't been any cities not worth seeing! Currently in full swing of my travels, I've finally slowed down a bit and really started taking in the sites. Including some pretty unique styles...

One of the first things I've noticed was a much more casual way of dressing. Being summer and all, guys are pretty relaxed with the way they are dressed and from talking to some locals, the main reason I got was the sun being so much stronger [and hotter] in this area of the world thanks to some holes in the ozone. The result, drawstring shorts... everywhere and every color! I of course had to join in and stopped by a popular Kiwi store - Hallenstein Brothers in Queenstown - to pick up a few pairs for myself. Make sure you check out their online store if your'e in the US, Australia, or New Zealand to order yourself a pair or two and get into this style... I'm calling it now, you will see every guy sporting drawstrings by summer!

Playing Tourist

Currently on our last leg of our trip, the last five [yes five!] weeks have been unforgettable! There's no feeling better than getting the chance to travel the world and see things/places you've always had on your to-see list. Australia was definitely at the top of that list and I can now check it off...

Sydney, my new favorite city, is definitely worth the long travel time from NYC! There's so much going on in this bustling city - world famous beaches, great restaurants, fun nightlife, lots of parks and gardens, and super easy to get around by way of public transit. I know this will be just one of many trips to come to this beautiful city. Who knows, maybe one day soon I'll be here for good... Until then, I'm happy being a tourist!

Trying to keep it somewhat Australian, I made sure to sport my Volley Australia kicks! Made of soft suede and leather, they're perfect for long tourist treks around town. I'm quickly gathering a good collection from the brand! When it comes to lugging around day supplies, I always use this super light Marc by Marc Jacobs backpack I found from East Dane! Seriously love this bag for a cool pop of color with a simple white tee and denim look... this tee is my current fave that fits perfectly - from Orlebar Brown btw!

Sydney Harbour Bridge
Without a doubt, my new favorite city in the world, Sydney is one of those cities you have to put on your bucket list to see [Maybe even live in if possible!], and make it a priority to cross it off that list as soon as you can! I can't exactly pinpoint what it was about this city, but everything about Sydney revitalized me more than words can explain...

Bustling city center, beautiful museums, historic landmarks, and world renowned beaches are just a few points of interest that will easily convince you of loving this city too. Please note: Visiting during an Australian summer and New York City winter may have helped sway my opinions! In all seriousness, I loved playing tourist in this city! These images are just a few of my favorite spots to hit when trekking to this city... all in the name of "work" and "research" to help add content to my ongoing #WheredSaulGo travel series!

Must see attractions:
Park yourself at the Opera Bar along the water of the Opera grounds and enjoy the sun... and a glass of bubbles of course!
If you can, pay a little extra dough to climb to the top of this massive bridge. The views from the top are unparalleled!
3. Visit one of Sydneys' many museums and exhibits
My favorite was the Public Library of New South Wales but there are tons of exhibits, galleries, and museums to choose from. Walk through the Royal Botanic Gardens if you visit the Public Library!
This one is a must see for obvious reasons and just a short bus ride from the city center. Make sure you hit up Bondi Icebergs Club for your obligatory Instagram picture... and a cocktail of course!
5. Take a ferry!
There are many that take you around the harbour for some perfect up-close views of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, but my favorite was the ferry to Manly Harbour Village - a small village just about 20 minutes across the harbour with tons of restaurants, shops, and a smaller, less populated beach!

Stay tuned for so much more. Up next on my #WheredSaulGo travel series recap... Honolulu, Hawaii! Make sure you're following on Instagram - @TrendStyled - for all the extra pictures of the entire travel series!

LOTW: Beat the Blizzard

If you're located anywhere in the Northeast part of North America then you've experience one hell of a snowfall this week... so really, what better time to take [or at least imagine] a tropical, beach-side adventure! This week's Look of the Week brings the sun, and the florals, to your cloudy, chilly day!

Without skipping a beat, Mother Nature welcomed us back from our five week beach travels with a "blizzard" sure to hit Manhattan within hours... not the warmest welcome home. Luckily, it wasn't as bad as predicted but the frigid temps were enough for me to hit the net in search for the perfect look to get me back into beach-mode! This is what I'll be sportin on my next tropical holiday. Would you wear this?

Surfs Up!

Warning: If you plan on visiting Hawaii any time soon, be prepared to feel the urge to do absolutely nothing while you are there! Without a doubt one of the most relaxing places I've visited, Honolulu instantly puts you in surfer-mode - not a worry in the world and all you can think about is being in the water.

I basically lived in my collection of Topo Ranch trucker hats and tanks for seven days and cut a few pairs of jeans into shorts... exactly what you do in Hawaii.  It was the perfect ending to our five week trip around the world. If you make it to the island of Oahu, I suggest renting a car for a few days and spending some time on the North Shore. Huge waves, tons of surfers, beautiful, white sandy beaches, and not as many tourist trap stores and restaurants! Aloha!

Winter Layers

Not quite as acclimated back to the NYC cold, I have been all about layers... as every New Yorker knows they must be an expert at to survive winter. You're constantly going in and out of buildings and public transport so you have to know how to layer just right so you aren't too cold outside and not too warm when you're inside. It's all about balance!

Luckily, my friends over at Coach sent me the perfect winter layer - this sick hooded duffle coat! With just enough weight, this classic jacket is so warm and doesn't need to many layers below to keep warm... even on the snowiest days. Jackets can be pricey, so my advice, invest in one great one like this duffle that is classic and will never go out of style!

Sadly, all good things must come to an end. Our trip half way around the world was definitely one for the books and could not be more happy to have had the experience and of course to be able to share with all of you! It was a super busy five weeks so we could were excited to be spending the last seven days of the trip in beautiful - and relaxing - Honolulu, Hawaii!

As so many others do as soon as they make it out of the Honolulu Airport, we made our way straight to the beach for some much needed beach time - as if we didn't get enough beach time during the last four weeks! We spent the day at Waikiki Beach, the busiest of the many beaches on Oahu but also the best for some great people watching and beach-bar hopping.

I of course wasn't light in packing some perfect resort-wear. My suggestion for any beach-side vacation packing... linen and some quality tailored swim trunks. The linen part is pretty obvious due to some intense sun rays but the trunks are a big part of my packing routine. I always invest in some great fitting trunks knowing I will be transitioning from beach-side to bar-side spots throughout the day so, always wanting to look my best in any environment, I spend a little more dough on some multi-use shorts! These geo-print trunks from Swim-Ology I found on East Dane are perfect... a great pattern and extra details like metal adjustable waist tabs and a button fly are enough to give a "more than just swim shorts" shorts look.

It's that time of year again... we are just a few days away from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week here in New York and I'm already in full on preparation mode! I'm not quite sure how many fashion weeks I've gone through at this point but I do know I have a great routine down to get me ready for the busy week ahead of fashion shows, presentations, meetings, and, of course, parties!

I always start with the essentials... a quick inventory of my closet and some last minute shopping for some solid looks. This week's Look of the Week is a close example of what you'll be seeing me trek around the streets of NYC in during this seasons New York Fashion Week!

All about a classic look with a younger appeal, I'm not a full on suit, tie, and brogues kinda guy. I love to mix it up with some super white kicks - like these leather sneakers from Vince - and a great outerwear piece - like this aviator jacket from Patrik Ervell - both of which I found on men's online retailer, East Dane! The rest of the accessories will be subtle enough to last the whole week so I'll be sticking to neutrals and nothing too flashy. Now if I can just make it through this season without slipping on a patch of ice!

Snow Day

As cold as these winter months can be, the beauty that is New York City post-snowfall makes you really appreciate the frigid season! We can find an endless amount of things to complain about this time of year but it really isn't all that bad. If anything, these last few weeks of snow are making for some very clean streets once it all clears.... hopefully.

Speaking of clean... I've been addicted to wearing some lighter colors since returning from our beach trek! There's just something about a clean, crisp white sweater and lighter denim while out for a stroll in the snow. If you can't beat them, join them... and I am definitely joining the snowy whites Mother Nature is producing!

My friends over at Grayers sent this perfect winter white sweater and was an easy go-to during todays snow day. I love the pattern but the best part is that it's made of lambswool to protect from the frigid elements. Of course, the Bean Boots are a no brainer and probably the most reliable boots you'll ever invest in! The beach is great and all but getting this cozy on a cold day can't be beat!

New York State of Mind

It doesn't take much [snow] for me to convince myself to stay in bed with some hot tea and a couple of good movies when the temperatures drop but sometimes, I have to remind myself I really do live in one of the best cities in the world and I need to enjoy it! It's crazy because, growing up I knew I wanted to live somewhere outside of the small suburb of Dallas, Texas I called home but never imagined I would make it here.

New York City has been home for almost five years now - whoa, where has the time gone?! - and at this point I can not be more content to call myself a New Yorker. No matter how much I travel and where I go, there's just something super sappy about seeing the skyline as you fly into this amazing city... even if it is covered in ice! Not one to make New Years resolutions, I may just have to make an exception this year. I'm going to make it a priority to enjoy every part of this city, good and bad, and be thankful to be living in [and surviving] New York City... truly the best city in the world!

Layered up in one of my favorite leather jackets - sent to me from my friends at Coach - and a heavyweight J. Crew denim shirt, I hit my neighborhood in the Upper West Side to enjoy some of the freshly snow-cleared streets. I love all of the brownstone lined, quiet streets that make up my neighborhood... Living half a block from Central Park isn't too bad either. After a quick stop at my regular bodega for a hot coffee, I found myself relaxing stoop-side soaking up the last minutes of the days sun. It's small moments like these that have me convinced I made the right choice moving so far from home. Now if these dropping temperatures would just warm up!

New York Fashion Week Begins

The time has come once again where New York City is overtaken by all things fashion... shows, presentations, and, of course, some hella fun parties! It's crazy to think how much time has gone by since my very first New York Fashion Week and the excitement I felt leading up to it. A lot has changed, and I admit I do take this week for granted so this year, I'm attempting to soak it all in and really enjoy every part of it! Even the crazy crowds and yelling as I make my way into the infamous tents at Lincoln Center.

Keeping pretty true to my current style, I'm starting off the week with a simple, but on trend look... and really you can't go wrong in all black during a New York City winter! I love this moto-inspired jacket from a cool collaborative project between Australian based brand Deus Ex Machina and Canadian brand Reigning Champ and is easily my latest obsession. Made up of Reigning Champ's signature heavyweight fleece, it's super warm and perfect for today's travels around New York's frigid, first day of Fashion Week!

Today's schedule is a full day of men's shows including Carlos Campos, J. Lindeberg, Ernest Alexander, Timo Weiland, Cadet, and Gilded Age to name just a few so make sure you're following me on Instagram [@TrendStyled] and Twitter [@TrendStyled] for today's trek around NYC to all the shows, presentations, and even some behind the scenes shots pre-show! Lovestruck Scents

Love is in the air and men all over town are scrambling to get a bundle of roses, some tasty chocolates, and plan the perfect date-night to show that special someone just how much they love them. How do I show the love? Well to start, I like to be a little more creative and time this special day with more than your average setup.

I'm all about the unexpected and instead of joining in with all the sappy guys taking their loved ones out for a night on the town, I'm going to take this day to be low key with a romantic night in... it is pretty damn cold in New York City this weekend so I'm not hearing any complaints about what I have planned. Thankfully, my friends over at Lacoste got me started in supplying my "date-night-in" kit with a bottle of Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 Rouge! Cologne obsessed, I can be pretty picky over what I collect in the fragrance department but this bottle will definitely be by my side this weekend. Hints of spices and woody notes, this scent will easily seduce your partner and energize your night!

Need a little more help with the special day? Win a bottle of Eau de Lacoste L.12.12 Rouge for yourself or your love by following me on Instagram@TrendStyled - for more details! Also, hit play below and listen to some of my current favorite love songs that will get you in the [love] mood and feelin' nostalgic!

Hues of Blues

With temperatures being the coldest they've been in over twenty years in New York City, now's the perfect time to start cashing in some of my frequent flyer miles in hopes of getting a quick trip to the beach! As much as I like to tell my friends back home in Texas that I'm completely used to this weather and how weeks like this help to make you appreciate the sunny, warm days of spring and summer, I've reached my limits and am in search of the perfect weekend getaway... all in the name of work of course!

If you've followed my past #WheredSaulGo Travel Series, then you've seen some of my favorite sunny cities from all around the world. From state-side beaches like The Hamptons and Miami all the way to the other side of the world like Sydney and Totaranui Beach, I've been travel obsessed lately and can't seem to get enough... especially during the frigid months of winter in NYC!

I've already booked some upcoming beach travels so stay tuned for that in the next few weeks but until then, I'm doing my best to attempt to make this city seem tolerable. Gravitating to the denim blues lately, I was excited when G-Star Raw sent over some of their essential denim and the perfect fitting indigo patterned shirt! There really is no season you can't sport the blues but there's something nostalgic about dawning the cool hue during these winter months. Without a doubt, looking forward to losing the layers soon though! Stay warm friends.

LOTW: Camel is the New Flannel

One of my favorite parts of Fashion Week is the people watching. In between shows, I always find a spot nearby all the action so I can see the ins and outs of the invited attendees... and sometimes even the randoms that flock to the Lincoln Center courtyard wondering back and forth in hopes of getting photographed. I love seeing the current trends of the fashion elite and without a doubt, this season was all about the camel moods and hues! This weeks'Look of the Week is how I'll be donning the color for the rest of this chilly season.

Not really groundbreaking ever since the camel topcoat came into play seasons ago, but this season, the hues of brown are coming in so many different shades and forms. From leather bags to caps to knits, this color was all over replacing our winter flannels and I was right there jumping on board!
