Probably one of the easiest trends to attempt but not the easiest to pull off, monochromatics is definitely one of my biggest obsessions this season. Everyone from Band of Outsiders to Prada to Salvatore Ferragamo showcased this trend in their spring/summer collections which I think subconsciously inspired me for todays look.
I always love seeing different interpretations of trends that make their way down the runways every season and then throughout the shopping centers soon after. While monochromatic isn't exactly for everyone, there are definitely some cool ways to interpret and pull off the look without going overboard and looking like a complete fruit... a piece of fruit... like a banana! Here are few tips to follow to get the look:
1. Mix in some patterns in the same hues
It might not have been pouring out but it was definitely cloudy, so I carried this awesome camo patterned London Undercover Umbrella to break up the khaki a bit.
2. Not everything has to be the exact same color!
It's as easy as lacing up your kicks with a bright color... like yellow... just to switch it up.
3. Pick a flattering color
As much as I want to say I've been spending every weekend at the beach, I haven't, so by wearing some tans and browns, it definitely made it look like I was golden brown... even on this gloomy day in NYC.
