Home Refresh

Your wardrobe isn't the only thing that needs a refresh every season. When it comes to your space, your home is easily a reflection of your style, mood, and esthetic. There's no need for a complete overhaul though. By just making small tweaks here and there, your home style game can easily be just as on point as your outfit of the day!

This season, I partnered with my friends at Minted to jump start the season's home refresh. If you haven't heard of the online retailer, it is a super affordable spot to discover new artists and purchase some killer art and home decor. Being in a bit of a Texas kind of mood as of late, I went for some modern interpretations of images that remind me of being back home.

The longhorn image, named Staredown, was a no brainer since it's always the first thing people ask when I tell them I'm from Texas... No, there aren't longhorns and cows in my backyard! 😒 Cacti however, are everywhere in Texas and being a bit succulent obsessed [but can never manage to keep any plant alive], I loved the Blue Cactus print photographed in the desert. The frame is even made of old barn wood - Minted lets you choose your own frame design too! - which is a very Texas kind of accent. Seeing as I am living in NYC, I needed a cool print to round out the wall to make it look more like an art installation and not just scenes from Texas. The graphic blue print, called Cera No 1 by Megan Wells, is one of those prints that can be interpreted a million different ways. For me though, it reminded me of the ripples in the lakes that I grew up going to all summer with my family. Your prints and artwork on your walls don't just have to look cool... It's finding your inspiration [like your home-state] and interpreting it in a way that reminds you of that person, place, or thing. That's what gives your home style some purpose behind it.

When it comes to my bedding, I'm usually an all white minimalist kind of guy. So for this refresh, my friends at Lacoste Home sent over a bit of color to help get me out of my basics mood. Cool geometric designs, clean lines, and some cool hues of gray and blue only help to compliment the art on the walls. Don't skimp with budget bedding... It's where you spend a large part of your day so treat yourself! A full list of what I'm currently sleeping in is listed below.
