As embarrassing as these pictures might be, it just goes to show, some of us are just born with style. Ok, maybe my Mom dressed me as I kicked and screamed the entire time, but you have to admit, this is a pretty damn good three piece suit WITH matching bow-tie… especially since it was my first birthday! And this olive suit… I mean, c’mon!!
It's like I haven't aged one bit... I even still fit into that olive green blazer [sanz candle stick]!
As I stop and reflect on the first twenty [uhum, something] years of my life I can’t help but think of all of those memorable moments that have stayed with me for life. For example, while shooting this picture of me in the olive suit, lavender shirt, and, arm band [which I'll be trying my hardest to bring back. Ha!] combo, that candle was burning my hands with melting wax the entire time. It was so bad I still have tiny scars on my right hand from the burns… even then, I loved a good photo shoot and would do anything for a great shot! I can’t help but thank my Mom for putting me through that hell! Being raised by a single Mother and an older Sister [pictured above and I'm sure furious I'm posting this!], I couldn’t help but be forced into having at least some fashion sense. In reality, I should be thanking them for subconsciously giving me a sense of style and, as it turns out, a career.
As my Mom's birthday approaches next weekend I couldn't help but think of these great moments in my life that I wouldn't trade for in the world. Growing up with two strong women in my life gave me even more than just a sense of style. Beyond style, they gave me a strong sense of worth, drive, and ambition and for that I couldn't be more grateful!
