There's something so serene about an all white palette when designing your space. Even as I type this at my desk in my bedroom, I'm surrounded by stark white walls, bedding, and marble accents. I've always gravitated towards the clean, minimalist esthetic so it's no surprise my room has evolved into an almost sterile environment. It's only recently that I've noticed it, so I've made it my mission to modify and refine my room into a more lived in and cozy kind of feel.
I'm constantly searching for inspiration. Be it for my daily OOTD, home design, and even lessons in photography, I probably spend a few too many hours on Tumblr falling into a rabbit hole of multiple design feeds. When I manage to pry myself from the site, I chalk it up to research and time well spent... and most of the time, it really is. Like coming across this apartment renovated in two completely different schemes.
As you can see in these toggling before and after photos of the space, investing in minimal cosmetic changes a home can be completely adapted to fit and/or upgrade your style. From an all white, minimal esthetic [by Entrance Mäkleri] to my goal vibes - modern, cozy, and warm [by Emma Fisher of Emma Hos]. Darker paint tones, warmer woods, heavier accent furniture, and spots of accessories go a long way in a space. Just shop through some of my suggestions below to get an idea of how I'll be transforming my space on a more accessible budget... which I'll be showing you all soon.
1. Enitial Lab Kamille Walnut Bookshelf - Lowe's • Modular bookshelves are a great way of adding different sized accessories to your space. Be it books, vases, and different nick-knacks from your travels, display it all proudly in an organized way with a cool shelving unit like this.
2. Brass Factory Modern No. 5 Pendant - Schoolhouse Supply and Electric Co.• Bringing in hues of bras and gold easily warms up a space... not to mention adds some great mood lighting when used in your light fixtures.
3. Sillerup Rug - Ikea• Add some texture to your space with a large area rug. I love the geo design in this super affordable piece that helps tie in the shelving unit.
4. Beaded Abstract Kaleidoscope Pillow Cover - West Elm• Bringing in punches of color doesn't have to be so blunt. Subtle hints in your textiles go a long way so make use sporadically throughout the space.
5. Mini Concrete Beveled Square Planters - Etsy• Without a doubt my favorite home trend as of current. Concrete planters are so cool and add some definite weight to your accessories. Etsy is one of the best sites to get some inspiration. With so many different vendors, they have just about anything your mind can imagine!
6. Snake Plant Windowsill - My City Plants• A snake plant is super easy to maintain and acclimates to just about any environment so bring some life to your space with one of these guys.
7. Triangle Jacquard Throw - West Elm• As I mentioned, when wanting to add some color to your room, textiles is an easy way to accomplish the warmth.
8. Sonoma Frame - Framebridge• This is one of my favorite new finds. Framebridgewill frame just about any size image. Either upload the digital image to their site or they will send you packaging so you can send them your print and they will bring your prints to life with a frame design of your choice. Simple. Best of all, it's super affordable!
9. Roadhouse Leather Barstools - CB2• These are exact replicas from the apartment redesign but on a more affordable level. Either with barstools or regular dining chairs, these are some serious pieces that make it look like you spent more than you did on your own redesign.
10. Empress Loveseat - Amazon• Cause really, there's nothing more manly than a leather sofa. This guy will easily be the main focus of your room and you really can't beat the heavily discounted price that Amazon is offering it for. You'd be surprised what you can find on Amazon so get searching and try not to get too click happy when purchasing.
