The world of grooming has come a long way for men. With the market growing larger and larger every year of men who want to look their best, grooming is a major part of accomplishing that goal. No matter how you dress, what your style, it all starts with a great grooming regimen... And it all starts with a proper shave.
I've teamed up with the team at Schick Hydro® to give some basic steps in shaving that every guy needs to follow in order to get the proper shave. Some of these steps are obvious but there might be a couple things you've been doing wrong all along. Even I was surprised by some of the things I've been missing.
Step One: It all starts with a good scrub. Your skin should be clean of oils and dirt so find a good exfoliating scrub that will get your skin prepared for your shave. This also helps with raising facial hair which will prevent razor burn and ingrown hairs. It's best and easiest to do this in the shower so you can really get a proper soaking and cleaning.
Step Two: Lather on your shaving cream. I like to use creams over foams because a good cream will help to moisturize as your lather. I also like to leave the lathered cream on my face for a couple minutes to ensure deep penetration. This will help to reduce friction and will keep moisture on the skin to enhance softening of the more coarse whiskers.
Step Three: Grab your Schick Hydro® Razor - I like to use the Schick Hydro® 5 Sensitive Skin Razor for an extra soft glide - and begin your shave. Remember to shave in the direction that your hair grows... Depending on the area of your face, this can be in multiple direction so make sure you change your positioning as you shave. I like to hold my skin tight with my free hand to help guide my Schick Hydro® Razor for a closer shave.
Step Four: Immediately rinse with cool water. Once you've covered the area you want to shave, it's important to completely rinse off any residue but with cooler water instead of warm. It will calm the skin of any irritation. For some extra soothing action, complete your regimen with a really good after shave cream to get some post-shave moisture. Avoid anything with alcohol in it. Not only will it burn, but it will only dry out your skin faster.
These four easy steps really don't take much time out of your morning routine but can really make some major improvements in your skin quality. And really, who doesn't want better skin?! I'd love to hear any other tips you guys might have for me. Comment below or shoot me an email - Saul@TrendStyled.com - and let me know what's on your mind!
