It doesn't take much [snow] for me to convince myself to stay in bed with some hot tea and a couple of good movies when the temperatures drop but sometimes, I have to remind myself I really do live in one of the best cities in the world and I need to enjoy it! It's crazy because, growing up I knew I wanted to live somewhere outside of the small suburb of Dallas, Texas I called home but never imagined I would make it here.
New York City has been home for almost five years now - whoa, where has the time gone?! - and at this point I can not be more content to call myself a New Yorker. No matter how much I travel and where I go, there's just something super sappy about seeing the skyline as you fly into this amazing city... even if it is covered in ice! Not one to make New Years resolutions, I may just have to make an exception this year. I'm going to make it a priority to enjoy every part of this city, good and bad, and be thankful to be living in [and surviving] New York City... truly the best city in the world!
Layered up in one of my favorite leather jackets - sent to me from my friends at Coach - and a heavyweight J. Crew denim shirt, I hit my neighborhood in the Upper West Side to enjoy some of the freshly snow-cleared streets. I love all of the brownstone lined, quiet streets that make up my neighborhood... Living half a block from Central Park isn't too bad either. After a quick stop at my regular bodega for a hot coffee, I found myself relaxing stoop-side soaking up the last minutes of the days sun. It's small moments like these that have me convinced I made the right choice moving so far from home. Now if these dropping temperatures would just warm up!
